could be explained by the sup-
pressive activity of the indigenous compost
micloflora rather than the direct effect of
the compost on the pathogen. The micro-
organisms most likely effect pathogen sup-
pression through various means, including
competition for nutrients, antibiosis and/or
the induction of host resistance.
